Individual and Group Therapy

Modalities include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Psychoeducation/Skills Training for developing and promoting the mind body connection.

Marriage & Family Therapy

Marriage and Family therapy is a branch psychotherapy that works with families and couples to nurture change and development in order to facilitate intimate, fulfilling, and long-lasting relationships.

Medication Assisted Treatment (Vivitrol, Suboxone, Subutex)

The use of medications in combination with various behavioral therapies, which is known to be effective in the treatment of substance use disorders such as opioids, and alcohol and can help some people to sustain recovery. Various medications can be used depending on the needs of the patient such as Vivitrol (a once a month shot), Subutex (a sublingual tablet), or Suboxone (sublingual film or tablet).

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR therapy expedites the accessing of the traumatic memory network, so that information processing is enhanced, with new associations forged between the traumatic memory and more adaptive memories or information. These new associations are thought to result in complete information processing, new learning, elimination of emotional distress, and development of personal truths.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

A healing approach to mind-body wellness that combines meditation and yoga. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction aims to address the unconscious thoughts, feelings, and behaviors thought to increase stress and undermine your overall mental, emotional and physical health. Through the regular practice of mindfulness, you will become familiar with your own behavior patterns, especially in exploring your reactions to stressful situations. During MBSR you will also learn that though you cannot always change the circumstances in which you find yourself, you do have the ability to choose how to respond to them. In MBSR this process is described as learning to respond rather than react due to having clearer perception of the circumstances you find yourself in through being in touch with the thoughts, sensations and emotions that are present in your mind and body.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Bayside Recovery and Wellness Center offers Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which is an evidence-based type of psychotherapy that uses eye movements to help clients address issues such as anxiety, depression, and post traumatic stress disorder, among others. ART helps clients resolve issues by making new connections between factual information from their memory and the client’s strengths, and problem solving abilities.

Clients process painful memories during eye movements by visualizing them, and they do not need to verbalize details of their distressing experiences. Clients learn to calm the stress response through focusing on sensations in the body, and rewrite aspects of their memory that cause the undesired symptoms. At the end of a session clients remember the facts of the event, but lose the painful emotions and sensations connected to it. Clients are in full control during the therapy, and they chose which images to work on, which images to replace and what to replace them with.

ART has been shown to be effective in the treatment of grief, phobias, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other issues. It is approved for use with adults and children. For more information please visit: www.ArtWorksNow.com.

Neurostar Advanced Therapy

NeuroStar delivers our advanced and unique form of TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), a noninvasive therapy that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain that are underactive in people suffering from depression.

NeuroStar Advanced Therapy for Mental Health is an FDA-cleared, non-drug, noninvasive therapy that can help you achieve long-term relief from the symptoms of depression. Over 110,000 patients have been treated with NeuroStar.

What to Expect

NeuroStar treatments take place in a doctor’s office. Before treatment, a small magnetic coil is positioned lightly on your head. As treatment begins, you will hear a clicking sound and feel a tapping sensation on your head.

During a NeuroStar treatment session, you recline comfortably in a treatment chair and remain awake and alert the entire time. You may watch TV, read, play games, or chat with your treatment provider during your session.

Since there are no sedatives involved, there are no effects on your alertness. Sessions take between approximately 20 and 40 minutes, and you can drive, return to work, or resume any other daily activities as soon as your session is over.

When Will I See Results?

NeuroStar treatments are typically delivered within the course of 4 to 6 weeks. After 2 to 3 weeks of treatment, you may start to notice improvements in mood, experience fewer days of depression, and find that you want to engage with other people more often. Your friends and family may notice your results before you do!
